Astrology And The Conviction Of R Kelly

Singer R Kelly was convicted yesterday on nine counts I did too sexual abuse of minors, sexual assault, sex trafficking. The details are pretty disturbing and if you want to know more, you can go look them up somewhere else. As reprehensible as he is, I’m here to focus on the astrology.

R Kelly was born on January 8th, 1967 at 12:01 PM (maybe) in Chicago Illinois. As is often the case with people in the news, that time of birth is unconfirmed and possibly kind of suspect. However, if the most commonly seen time of birth for him is correct, this would Place Neptune in Scorpio in his Seventh House. And should we be surprised? Probably not.

This is not to say that anyone with Neptune in their Seventh House is doomed to make poor choices in relationships or should be avoided as a partner. But his Neptune is very strongly aspected. It gets a sextile from his Sun, Uranus, and Pluto, and the trine from his Saturn in Pisces. One way or another Neptune was going to be a big player in this man’s life.

Going by Whole Sign Houses, if this time of birth is correct, his Ninth house is Capricorn, ruled by Saturn. And with transiting Neptune now conjunct his natal Saturn, should anyone be surprised he was convicted? Probably not.

The natural ruler of committed relationships is Jupiter. His ruled by Jupiter at 0 degrees Leo opposite his Venus at 2 degrees Aquarius. Neither of these planets is strongly affected by anything else. So should we be surprised that he “loved who he loved” regardless of propriety? Probably not.

Finally: he was wealthy and influential and famous. Should we be surprised that this helped him get away with what he did for so long?

Probably not.
