Astrology And The Rise Of Skywalker, Part Two: The Birth Chart Of Star Wars

(Apologies in advance if you like your astrology fluffy, and light on technical details. We’re doing a deep dive into Mundane Astrology here and in the next few blog entries on this subject.)

Last time, I discussed the problems with doing a reading for either yourself or someone or something with which you have a strong emotional attachment. I used my concerns over the upcoming new Star Wars film as an example. Click here if you haven’t seen it yet.

So, how to address some very subjective concerns about a fictional property that I care about a lot?

Both Star Wars and the Disney Corporation have long and complicated histories, and there are a number of different birth charts we can look at to determine the success of the upcoming next film in the series. Let’s start with the birth chart of Star Wars itself: specifically the World Premiere on May 25th 1977 in Los Angeles California at 7 PM.

***

What an impressive little money maker this chart is! It’s pretty difficult to spot something as abstract as “artistic merit” in a birth chart, but certainly we can see financial performance. Besides, “artistic merit” and “financial performance” are two different things (looking at you, Michael Bay).

The birth chart for the first film, and thus for the series in general, is loaded with signs that it will make money. There is a waxing moon closely conjunct the Midheaven. The Second House (income) is ruled by Jupiter, and in the birth chart Jupiter is conjunct the Sun.

(Here’s a good example of a “debilitated” planet getting good results. Technically, Jupiter is Gemini is “debilitated,” but it’s also ruled by the Midheaven ruler in this chart.)

Jupiter is also trine Pluto in the Twelfth House. All of this adds up to “explosive profit from an unsuspected source.” It may seem hard to believe now, but the first film arrived on the scene with very little hype.

Furthermore, manufacturing and manufactured products in a mundane birth chart are ruled by Mars. Notice that in this birth chart Mars is strongly placed in the Sign that its rules, and it’s conjunct Venus and the South Node, and takes a trine from Neptune. It may seem unusual to the modern observer, but a great deal of the success of the Star Wars franchise has been from manufactured products: action figures and replica props and books and so on.

So now: when we treat the premiere chart for The Rise Of Skywalker as the transits to the birth chart of the original Star Wars, what do we find?

Ouch. Again, with a warning about my lack of objectivity, I’m worried. Come back next time for all the sweaty, nervous details.
