Does Pluto Deliver Any Good?
Thank you for writing to me today, Annette (not your real name, of course). It’s funny how a simple five-word sentence can be surprisingly complicated to answer.
“Does Pluto deliver any good?”
Yes, that’s quite the question. I’m going to give you two answers. One is relatively textbook, and the second one is more metaphorical. Then I’m going to wrap it up with an observation. Hang tight!
First, it’s important to understand that Pluto adds profound depths to either a birth chart or a transit. It can give you the longings or the drive needed to achieve something great. It can overcome tremendous obstacles. But I know that this is not how things have worked out in the last couple of years for you. with transiting Pluto at various times square your natal Venus, Pluto, and Nodes, it has been a season of loss for you. You’ve had a run of seriously bad luck when it comes to losing loved ones, and for that I am truly sorry. Pluto can make cuts deeper, too.
I’d like to point out that transiting Pluto is also trine your Jupiter, giving you a chance to “level up” your worldview and philosophy in light of the pains you’ve endured — but that rings a little hollow at the moment, doesn’t it?
Think of it this way: there can be actual benefits to a forest fire. It clears out old growth that might literally or figuratively be overshadowing new growth. It recycles nutrients back into the ground for that new growth. You might be surprised to learn that there are some species of tree that don’t even produce seeds until they are exposed to fire.
I know that’s not terribly comforting now, but in time hopefully you will be more able to believe what I’m saying.
And now, my observation: there can be a tendency for students of astrology (or even professional astrologers) looking at their own charts and transits to focus on one transit and miss the good news. Sometimes they can even focus on one difficult transit and missed the thing that’s really causing the problem. I’ve already mentioned the positive transit that your natal Jupiter is having… but transiting Neptune is also square your natal Moon, and you are also having your Neptune Square.
People born in the year you were born in are facing a fairly unique situation, with a Uranus Opposition, a Neptune Square, and a Pluto Square all happening more or less at once. But even something that sounds that horrific can be overcome. And I know that’s what you’re going to do.
I believe we should talk again sometime, Annette. I think it would help.
