Think Carefully About Mercury In Aquarius

I’m sometimes surprised how little attention Mercury gets from astrologers. Yes, we all know what it stands for and why that’s important. Look, there’s you reading, and here’s me writing — using our Mercurys! But you don’t see the kind of excitement generated by Mercury changing Signs than you would from Venus or Mars doing so. Heck, even the Moon entering a new Sign seems to get more attention, and that happens every two and a half days.

No one really seems to give a hoot about Mercury until it turns retrograde, Even then it’s only because Mercury isn’t quietly humming along in the background doing its job as usual. We should all probably be pretty thankful that Mercury doesn’t rule “resentment,” because it’s probably earned that right.

Mercury is now in Aquarius and will be there until February 3rd. I believe it would be a tragic waste to not do something Mercury-related during this time, when one’s thoughts and words can be bold and wide-ranging, and Mercury isn’t afflicted by any particular difficult aspects.

One often finds minority opinions among astrologers, and one of mine is that Mercury is actually exalted in Aquarius, not Virgo. Sure, Mercury in Virgo is great, but it can have a tendency to miss the forest for the trees. Mercury in Virgo certainly sees things, but Mercury in Aquarius can be visionary.

So how can one best use that Mercury in Aquarius energy? Try to learn something new. Do thirty seconds of fact-checking before you re-post some meme about a “news story” on Facebook just because you agree with it. Balance your budget. Make lists and plans. Read some nonfiction.

Don’t let this time slip by unused. Otherwise you’ll probably regret it when Mercury enters Pisces in February, then turns retrograde, and you can’t find your keys, let alone figure out where you were driving to or what route to take.
