An Astrologer’s Top Five Synastry Aspects
When one is learning astrology, it doesn’t take too long before coming across the concept of “synastry,” where we compare the birth chart of two people to each other to see how compatible they will be. Human relationships are complicated, so naturally the astrology involved is complicated too.
There are so-called “good and bad” aspects that can form between the planets in two charts. Here is a list of the ones that I find overall are most favorable for a relationship. And one thing you may notice? There’s no Sun Signs involved.
Person A’s Moon conjunct Person B’s Venus
The Moon is your basic emotional core. Regardless of anything else in a relationship, like why you’re in it or what it does for you, without some good news for your Moon — it’s not going to feel right. Venus tends to represent sweetness and all the things we would like to receive more of from others. Put these two together in a relationship and it’s easy to overlook a lot of sins.
Person A’s Moon conjunct Person B’s Jupiter
Jupiter is generally considered to be associated with having a good time and having a sense of humour. That’s a bit of an oversimplification, but it’s largely true. Jupiter also represents your sense of justice and fairness. If you’ve ever been in a relationship without that? You understand how important it is.
Person A’s Venus trine or sextile Person B’s Mars
This aspect can make for good skills with each other as far as general interaction goes. It’s helpful in a friendship or a Business Partnership. But even a romantic relationship? It does wonders for the sex.
Person A’s Mercury trine or sextile Person B’s Mercury
It’s a bit of a cliche to say communication is important for a relationship to function, but it’s still true. When your Mercury makes a positive aspect to another person’s Mercury it makes conversation flow more easily and, more importantly, helps you understand each other’s words and ideas.
Person A’s Saturn trine or sextile Person B’s Saturn
Hey, I’ll bet you didn’t expect to see Saturn here, did you? Saturn doesn’t have a reputation for being a very fun planet. But it is absolutely vital when it comes to forming and maintaining structures. Notice how many successful relationships there are between people where there is a four or five year age difference, or a nine or ten year age difference? That’s likely because their Saturns are working well together.
