Astrology, Predictions, And Profections

The more you learn about astrology, the more useful techniques you will discover. It’s a bit daunting for a beginner to simply understand the nature of a birth chart, let alone the things like transits or secondary progressions. but as time goes on and you work with these things, you’ll start to get the hang of it.

One technique that I admit I haven’t worked with much until fairly recently is the concept of annual profections. Profections can help you make a lot of sense out of your transits in any given year that you might not see otherwise.

Take a look at the sign on your Ascendant. Think of that as symbolic of the first year of your life (“look at me here I am!”). During the first twelve months of your life, transits to your first house ruler take on added significance, and there will be a general focus on first house issues.

After your first birthday, move to the Second House of your birth chart (“hey, here’s what I’m worth! I have value!”). Before your second birthday, matters involving your Second House and its ruler will take on a special importance. Each year, on your birthday, we move to the next house in line. If your Second House is ruled by Mercury, then Mercury transits take on extra significance during that year. By your twelfth birthday, we come back to the First House, and the cycle continues.

One thing to keep in mind is that we only use traditional ruler ships with this technique. So, Scorpio is ruled by Mars, Aquarius is ruled by Saturn, and Pisces is ruled by Jupiter. Sorry about that, Outer Planets Fans. But it works.

Don’t take my word for it. If you are used to looking at your transits, play with it yourself and you’ll soon see what I’m talking about. Profections can be a particularly powerful predictive technique.
