Britney Spears, The Pluto Square, And Breaking Chains
I have written about the astrology of Britney Spears in one venue or another several times over the course of more than a decade, since transiting Pluto was conjunct her Neptune. I am pleased to report that finally I have some good astrological news for her.
For complicated reasons that probably have a lot more to do with family dynamics than her actual mental health, Britney (born December 2 1981, 1:30 AM, McComb Mississippi) has been controlled by a conservatorship. Basically, she can’t do much of anything with her life without approval from her father. this week though, that situation has changed
Her father has decided to step down from his controlling interest (possible play on words intended) from his role in the conservatorship. And as you would expect, the astrology reflects this.
Britney has Venus conjunct the South node in her fourth house, square her natal Pluto. The Four and Tenth Houses are generally considered to be the “parental axis” in a birth chart. The South Node is generally where we look for past karma, in whatever form that takes — because of something from a past life, or simply your family or genetic background. During most of the “free Britney” movement, transiting Pluto has been back and forth across her Venus-South node conjunction. Pluto likes shattering things and blowing things up, and in this case it seems to be in a very good way for Britney. Someone with Sun and three other planets in Sagittarius isn’t likely to take being controlled very well.
She still has a long road ahead of her when it comes to regaining her freedom. A conservatorship is still in place. But her father being removed from the equation seems like an excellent start. Don’t forget that Pluto does profound work but it moves very slowly. It will still be in conjunction range of her Venus-South Node (and square her natal Pluto) for years to come yet. It would be nice if Britney had her freedom restored immediately, but that doesn’t seem likely. This story has been dragging on for a long time so it seems likely to drag on for a fair while yet.
But you know what? For one I’m actually smiling about where things are headed for her.
