Mars Square Saturn And Pluto: Does EVERYTHING Suck?
You don’t need to be an astrologer to know that the world is under a lot of stress recently. It was building up to a major peak even before the Saturn-Pluto conjunction this January. Now we find ourselves in a prolonged transit of Mars in Aries, and Aries is at the degrees to be squaring Saturn and Pluto.
(And no, I didn’t forget that Jupiter is involved. Jupiter is often helpful, but not recently. It’s being more of an amplifier than a pacifier.)
So many of us have important placements around roughly 15-25 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra, or Capricorn that are taking a beating. And those of us who don’t? We are undoubtedly close to someone who is getting hit hard, or are in a line of work that has ground to a halt because of the pandemic.
Is there any good news in this? Well yes, in a backhanded sort of way. If you have knowledge of astrology, you know that the Saturn Pluto conjunction is a long slow grind, and that Mars is making it worse currently. But you also know that eventually Mars will move on from Aries, even if it takes until January.
And if you don’t know astrology all that well? Let’s try a little history.
If you followed me for my coronavirus series, you know that there have been worse pandemics than this in human history. We have never lived at a time with more and better medical information and ability. If it’s just the economy you’re worried about? Take comfort in the knowledge that never in human history have we had such collective wealth, and it would only take a few small tweaks here and there to make the current economic crisis a lot more fair for everyone.
I know some of you probably read that last paragraph and thought, “hey that’s socialism!” If that bothers you, try to think of it this way. In any free market economy, a business has to occasionally spend money to upgrade parts and machinery. That’s a commonly accepted cost of doing business. And in a free market economy, people are the “parts and machinery” that need to be spent on right now.
So please, get through this the best you can and know that better days are ahead. And if you don’t want to take my word for it? Take the word of another normally-optimistic Sagittarius who suffered from occasional bouts of dark depression:
“Lift up your hearts, all will come right — out of depths of sorrow and sacrifice will be born again the glory of mankind.”
-Winston Churchill, 12 June 1941
