Astrology, Elections, And Objectivity

The US presidential election was a little over a week ago, and all of the shouting has finally stopped.
Ha! Kidding. It’s still a mess out there. A lot of people are still arguing about the results. Neither side got everything they wanted. Trump didn’t win like he wanted, and the Democrats didn’t get the “Blue Wave” and control of the Senate like they wanted. Welcome to democracy, people!
Don’t worry. This is not going to be a blog entry about politics… although with America facing both its Neptune Opposition and impending Pluto Return, there will be plenty to work with. Today I would like to talk a little about the predictions that some astrologers made about the election.
First of all, there’s no shame in an astrologer getting it wrong on occasion. We are human. But it is particularly hard to make an accurate prediction when the astrologer has some kind of personal bias or attachment to one outcome or another. This is why I don’t recommend that people do readings on themselves, any more than a surgeon should take out his own appendix. And let’s be honest here, American politics is something that’s really hard to be objective about, even if you aren’t an American.
I’ve gotten the occasional prediction wrong myself. Heck, I’ve even admitted to it here. And when an astrologer occasionally gets it wrong, hopefully they are wise enough to learn from their mistake. That’s how life is supposed to work.
I’ve noticed that there are a few astrologers out there though who got their predictions about this election very, very wrong — and yet can’t or won’t admit it. The funny thing is, these are often astrologers who tend to operate under a “brand name,” like The Prediction King or The Karma Merchant, or operate under a title like “Make Astrology Awesome Again.”
One of these people is deliberately obscuring what he actually predicted. Another one is actively blaming Satan. Most ridiculous of the lot? The one who says something to the effect of “I know astrology better than anyone else, and I say astrology says Trump won, therefore Biden cheated.”
Umm… yeah. That’s not how astrology works.
Suppose I’m having brilliant transits for athletic achievement tomorrow, and I challenge Serena Williams to a match. And suppose she’s having relatively bad transits. Obviously, since she’s Serena Williams, she’s going to beat me soundly.
But what if fifteen minutes before the match starts, I slip a tranquilizer into her Gatorade? I’m still not going to win because she’ll either A) shrug off the effects of the tranquilizer and still beat me, or B) pass out completely and there simply won’t be a match that day for me to win. You can change your actions, but you can’t move the planets around.
So, yes. This election has been very divisive. And it’s helped expose a few astrologers (not necessarily) as bad astrologers… but as people who let their ego get in the way of the job.
If you’re an astrologer, it’s your job to interpret what the sky is saying to people in a helpful way. It’s not your job to block people’s view of the sky and tell them the outcome you want.
So, do I know of any astrologers personally who nailed the results of the election at least as well as any other astrologer, and indeed better than many political pundits? I do. Here’s a link to his YouTube video on the subject…
