Astrology: What The Heck Is Going On With Kanye West?

Anyone who has kept an eye on Kanye West in the last several months has noticed that he has gotten a little stranger than usual. In April he released a track called Lift Yourself, which quickly became much better known among the public in general as “that poopity scoop song.” Since then he has made some controversial public statements about slavery having been a choice, has gone on political rants that have upset many of his fans, annoyed Taylor Swift some more, and capped it all off with a genuinely unusual performance last Saturday on the 44th season premiere of Saturday Night Live. He performed three songs on that show… well, mostly he had other people do most of the performing… and immediately after the show lectured the cast and audience on his political beliefs, with many people booing him.

Whether or not you agree that he is a musical genius or makes some good points about politics or not, there are distinct astrological reasons why Kanye’s odd behavior reached a peak last Saturday night. Kanye West (born June 8th 1977 in Atlanta Georgia) has a Sun-Jupiter conjunction in Gemini. A Sun-Jupiter conjunction can make for a “loud and out-there” personality in anyone, but in Kanye’s case there is a complicating matter: that Sun-Jupiter conjunction is closely opposite his natal Neptune, and all three planets are in a square aspect to his natal Moon in Pisces. Regardless of what Kanye was going to do for a living, this combination would make him a pretty unusual person, and one who is not willing to hide that about himself.

Kanye has admitted that he has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Whether or not you think that makes him crazy or is simply the side effect of being a great artist, it’s easy to see how the transits to his birth chart could be amplifying all of this. For the last couple of years transiting Neptune has been conjunct his Moon, and this transit has a couple of years to go yet. Things are going to get stranger with Kanye in future.

Furthermore, the transiting Moon at the time of his Saturday Night Live performance was Void of Course. Any action or activity that you begin during a Void of Course Moon is more likely than average to go astray, break down, or just get weird. And that is perhaps a very good description of what we saw, what with Kanye dancing around dressed like a giant Perrier bottle, among other things.

To top things off: Kanye was a last minute replacement for Ariana Grande, who had to cancel because of “emotional issues.” Next time, I’ll be looking at her birth chart and transits — there’s more news for her in the near future too…
