Kanye West, Lana Del Ray, Azealia Banks: Geminis Gone Wild!

Ever since Kanye West’s um… remarkable appearance on Saturday Night Live last week (click here if you didn’t see my previous entry on a subject) a social media feud has broken out over Gemini Kanye’s behavior between two other Geminis: Lana Del Rey and Azealia Banks. Believe it or not though, this has little or nothing to do with the Sun Signs of the three people involved. As is often the case when a dispute happens, the real culprit is Mars.

First of all, it should be noted that Mars is now in Aquarius, and that Sign is trine to Gemini. This will generally tend to have an energizing effect on Geminis, but that’s not the primary source of the difficulties between Banks and Del Ray.

Lana Del Rey was born with her Mars at 6 degrees Cancer, which is generally considered to be a difficult placement. People with Mars in Cancer frequently don’t know where or how to direct their aggression. Azealia’s Moon is at 10 degrees Capricorn, in a close opposition to Lana’s Mars. Thus, we can say with a fair degree of certainty that these two were not likely to get along perfectly smoothly at the best of times. Azealia has her Mars at 2 degrees Leo, which is exactly conjunct Lana’s Moon. Any aspect between one person’s Mars and another person’s Moon can lead to hurt feelings, and this is an obvious “double whammy” example of that. On top of that, Lana’s Mercury at 15 degrees Cancer is closely opposite Azealia’s Uranus and Neptune.

With transiting Mars in the early part of Aquarius (and for bonus points, conjunct Azealia’s Saturn), the stage was set for the sudden loud and unexpected blow up between these two celebrities. However, as Mars moves on things appear to have settled down. That’s probably a good thing, for Geminis in general. They already have enough of a reputation for having an “open mouth policy” without celebrities making it worse for them…
