Planet Mars goes Direct, Here is What it Means for You
Mars, planet of initiation and instinct will Station and begin moving Direct on Monday, August 27th, 2018 at 08:05 am (Mountain Time). Mars has been appearing to move backwards in the sky from it’s usual movement, a phenomenon called retrograde motion. It will now appear to stand still for a short period, also known as being stationed, and then begin to move forward through the zodiac once again, which is called being in direct motion. Mars is the planet that rules things such as energy, masculinity, assertion, and dynamic action. Personally, it is where we draw our power from to confront obstacles and pursue our desires. On a worldly scale, it is war, fires, metal industries, militaries, and men with power.
When Mars is retrograde this means that things like our ability to exert energy is turned inward, our desires are lessened, becoming more subtle. Beginning new projects is also not recommended as our skill at initiating things is a bit more restricted than usual. Again, on a worldly scale, things like war are troubled and less effective. As well as things like the production of metals and weapons of war may run into economic shortcomings. The things which are more active and apparent take on an inert quality and are not as likely to be seen or done. Once Mars returns to it’s direct motion, the drive and ambition are rekindled allowing everyone to express those energies once again.
The last time Mars went retrograde and direct it was in the zodiac signs of Sagittarius and Scorpio. Sagittarius rules things such as business, travel, politics and religion. Scorpio rules matters of death, discovery, debts, and power struggles. Right at the time of Mars going direct we saw news such as the discovery of the black-box data from EgyptAir flight 804 that pointed to a fire being the cause of the planes crash. A triple suicide bombing attack at the busiest airport in Istanbul Turkey that killed at least 41 people. As well as, multiple large investments made in many stocks and government interventions in specific markets.
This time around, about 2 years later, Mars will be going direct in the Sign of Capricorn after going retrograde in Aquarius. Capricorn rules authorities, government, public figures and career ambitions. Aquarius rules over technology, revolution, organizations and society. We can expect to some increased action and possibly even conflict in governmental structure, societal values, corporate standings and those in the public eye. Although it can come in many forms, it is possible that we will see some kind of confrontation involving those that uphold the status quo of what is already established or those who prefer to continue doing things the way that they have always been done. Companies could see their forward progress pick up once again if they have been down or slow, and struggles against authority come become more of a concern for the public as a whole.
While Mars is the main astrological factor of the day there is still much more going on the sky we can look at to help us understand what might occur in detail. As Mars goes direct he will begin to make a square aspect to the planet Uranus who is in the sign of Taurus. This aspect create a tension between the two that will drive them to more noticable actions. In general we could find this to mean that the output of Mars will affect the values of society and could push the masses towards fighting for their communities, aspirations and beliefs more than usual.
At the same time, the Moon will be conjunct(aligned in the sky) with Neptune in the sign of Pisces. This indicates even further that the minds of people will be upon nurturing their spiritual insights and embodying their beliefs. Overall, we can see that humanity will be in more of a mood to push for reform of established norms while maintaining their spiritual convictions. Of course there is even more happening up there, and subsequently down here, but these things are on track to be the highlights at this time.
On a personal level, it will affect some more than others, and some might not notice a thing depending on the placements of one’s own birth chart. In general, everyone should feel a bit more energetic and able to be forthcoming about things that stand in there way or ambitions they wish to seek. Conflict is more common around this time, unfortunately, but it could be what is needed to resolve certain issues that have no other way of being settled.
