Saturn Direct: Back to Business

Saturn, planet of structure and jurisdiction will station and begin moving Direct on Thursday, September 6th, 2018 at 08:05 am (Mountain Time). Saturn has been appearing to move backwards in the sky from it’s usual movement, a phenomenon called retrograde motion. It will now appear to stand still for a short period, called ‘being stationed’, and then begin to move forward through the zodiac once again, which is called being in direct motion. Saturn is the planet that represents authority, responsibility, established structures, and the ending of things. Personally, it is the obstacles in our life that force us to slow down and face things with a mature and balanced perspective. On an worldly scale, it is government and police, corporations, agriculture, and tradition.

When Saturn is retrograde it tends to undo established norms and traditions, causing a temporary regression in routine. Things tend to be less pressured, and are likely to get out of step. Those in power are more relaxed and less strict in their demands. Again, on a worldly scale, things like economic stability, governmental control and corporate production levels are reduced or given a reason to be reorganized. Society as a whole takes on a more disordered nature and indulges in the relief of slack. Once Saturn returns to it’s direct motion, these things are put back into order and the restricting demands of process are back, calling us back into regimen.

The last time Saturn went retrograde and direct it was in the sign of Sagittarius. The sign of Sagittarius rules things such as wealth, travel, politics and large scale events. At this time we saw Hurricane Harvey make landfall and bring colossal destruction to the coast of the state of Texas in the United States. With it came the end of many businesses, homes and unfortunately the death of over a hundred individuals. We also saw 791 files released about Britain from the Northern Ireland Office while tensions between the two countries were high. Their relations were already secretive and troubled, and these documents brought to light some very important issues such as the killing of two British undercover corporals at an Irish Republican Army funeral.

This time around, a little over 12 months later, Saturn will be going direct in the Sign of Capricorn after going retrograde in the same sign. Capricorn rules authorities, government, public figures and career ambitions. We can expect to see things such as stabilization in authoritative powers and implementation of more lawfulness. Corporate affairs may become more regulated or even constrained through some type of due process. The endings of things may be seen, especially if they involve the public attention. That which has become disorganized or out of step should begin to have its routine put back into place. Things of an industrial nature are more inclined to bring about progress and have increased output. Public figures are more likely to be reprimanded or praised for their actions as well.

Saturn is the main astrological factor of the day, but there are more things going on in the sky we can look at to help us understand what might occur in detail. As Saturn goes direct he will begin to make two Trine aspects. One to Uranus in the sign of Taurus and another to Mercury, who will have just moved into the sign of Virgo. The ease of energy exchange between Uranus, who will be retrograde, and Saturn should help to produce some interaction between the ideas of innovation and normalcy of established processes. There could also arise the feeling of social reclusiveness due to the stresses of routine and deadlines causing time for such things to cut short and made less of a priority. The positive aspect between Mercury and Saturn will allow for more attention to detail and a possible increase in the demands given by authority to produce results. This will alleviate some of the social restraint and allow for more communication, even if it be of a mostly business nature. All in all, workloads and production will be high along with public interest taking on a more critical eye toward those demanding the results.

On a personal level, it will affect some more than others, and some might not notice a thing depending on the placements of one’s own birth chart. If you would like to know more specifically how this will affect you, use the AstroCloud section to learn where the zodiac sign of Capricorn(where Saturn is currently) is at in your own birth chart.

In general, everyone should feel more responsible yet burdened by that same responsibility. You common to feel more driven to accomplish your goals, especially those relating to your career, and might even see some of those milestones come to fruition. A solemn attitude and reliance upon structure is more effective offering some relief from what may have felt like a temporary chaos in a part of your life. A feeling of authority over the business you need to handle daily and in the long run is highly likely to be felt allowing you center yourself and get back on track. While things that you don’t like may be summed up, it is possible that things you do like might also come to a close, so be prepared for that potential. This is an excellent time to step outside and above yourself and review the time you have on earth, what you have done with it, and you want to do with it from now on. Set rational goals, practice being accountable, and mold yourself into having a more mature perspective on life.
